Since 1992, Mary Rutan Foundation has awarded over 1.6 million dollars in scholarships and loans to residents of Logan County pursuing a degree in the medical field.
In 2023, the Foundation expanded its program to offer scholarships to specific high schools in Champaign and Hardin counties. They are Graham, Urbana City, and Upper Scioto Valley.

August 4, 2021 - Miller receives paramedic scholarship
Mary Rutan Foundation Paramedic Scholarship in the amount of $2,700 was awarded to Steven Miller. Mr. Miller currently serves with the Allen Township squad which serves Middleburg and the surrounding rural area along with providing additional coverage for the East Liberty area.
Since MRF began this program in 2016, six emergency medical scholarships have been awarded, totaling $10,220.00 (3 paramedics, 1 EMT advanced and 2 EMT basic). Each individual successfully completed their certification and has provided emergency services on a volunteer squad to the residents of Logan County. $3,780.00 remains available in the MRF EMT/Paramedic Scholarship Fund for future awards. The original fund was established with $10,000 set- aside from the MRF Community Health Fund and a $4,000 designated donation from TeamHealth.
